Add a City Description

City descriptions help your website show up in search results and can attract out-of-town rental prospects.

How city pages work

City pages are generated automatically based on the properties you have added to your portfolio, though it may not always be visible on your website depending on your site's settings.

Note: If you believe a city page should be present and it isn't, contact support@rentsync.com.

Add or manage a city description

  1. Click Websites from the main navigation bar
  2. Click Website List from the sub menu
  3. Click on the card for the website you wish to make changes to
  4. Click City Pages in the sub menu navigation on the left, under the website you chose
  5. Select a city from the scrollable list on the left, or add a new one using the + sign in the top left of the City Pages column
  6. Add your description to the Description field
  7. Click the Save button to finish

Note: Some websites behave differently than others. In some instances, the summary may be used as the city description instead. It is also possible that the city page does not display a description at all. Contact support@rentsync.com if you would like a description added to the city page and it is not currently visible.

Writing an effective city description

Everything you enter into the Description field becomes part of your website's searchable content. When someone searches for a city your properties are located in, a strong description increases the chance that your website appears organically in the results.

Include details such as:

  1. Nearby highways or major intersections
  2. Surrounding neighbourhoods
  3. Notable landmarks or points of interest
  4. What makes the area appealing to renters

For example, a description like "Vaughan is a city located just north of Toronto, along Highway 400 and Highway 407" gives search engines specific, relevant keywords to associate with your page, rather than a generic summary that doesn't mention the area's location or context.

Note: Changes to your city description are added to your website's code immediately, but it may take search engines some time to pick up and display the updated information in search results.

Tip: If none of your cities appear in the city dropdown menu, go to the Menu tab and click on the residential or commercial panel depending on where you would like city pages to display under, then toggle on Show City Pages. If your cities are showing but one is missing, this is not a settings issue. Contact support@rentsync.com for assistance.
